I will advise not to walk at night unless in a group, especially in the Red Light District. Generally, you should be conscious of your environment while here.

As earlier mentioned, Amsterdam is expensive. But budget travelers can still spend an average of $215 or less per day on food, accommodation, and transport. You can eat in cafes, avoid taxis because they are costly, and stay in hostels.
